Tannery keeps the depth, texture and generous proportions of an old workshop while replacing its former industry with warm guest rooms, a long-table kitchen and a calm bathing house. New work is precise and contemporary without erasing the building's practical origins.
“Good restoration leaves the strength of the original building visible.”

A local guide
The original building was practical, solid and organised around repeated daily work. Its thick walls, tall openings and robust floors now give the hotel depth and acoustic calm. New interventions remain legible rather than pretending to be historic, allowing guests to understand the building while enjoying contemporary heating, lighting, bathrooms and circulation.
Furniture and objects come from a focused group of makers, but rooms are designed for regular use rather than display. Leather softens, timber gains character and woven fabrics can be repaired. Short notes identify materials and studios for interested guests, while the overall atmosphere remains comfortable for visitors who simply want a good room.
Use arrival afternoon for the workshop building and dinner, then leave the main day for a lake route and bathing house. A third night creates time to visit a regional studio or remain at the hotel without another plan. Maker Loft rooms provide the best workspace, while Water Suites suit guests prioritising privacy and the shore.
